Why is Perfecting your golf swing so difficult
I have played golf since I was eight years old and out of all the sports I play I would say it is the sport that I am best at, however I am no where near being a professional golfer and am never likely to be a professional either. I probably average about 18 holes of golf per week when averaged across the whole year as yes I am a fair weather golfer also so I play considerably less during the winter months yet I still keep a respectable sub 10 handicap. One thing that I will say is the most important component to a good golf game is to ensure you keep a consistent golf swing.
As an amateur golfer how do you go about keeping your golf swing in shape well my first piece of advice would be to research golf swing basics and read about what makes a good golf swing work. I was fortunate when I first started that I was mentored by my dad who to this day has stayed as a very consistent golf player. If you do not have access to an experienced golfer when you start I cannot stress enough how important you should get some lessons from your local course or driving range as early as possible especially if you intend to play on a regular basis, the main reason for this is to make sure you don’t pick up bad habits that could haunt you for a long time.
Every year after the winter when I decide to dust off my clubs I normally find that one part of my swing has deteriorated so I will always usually book a quick lesson just so I can receive some golf swing tips in order to bring my swing under control as soon as possible. The thing to remember with golf is that it is a precision game and even the pros get it wrong at times the only difference is that a pro may miss hit on in 50 shots where an amateur may miss hit one shot in ten and it is only through practice that the muscle memory in your body can be programmed to maintain your swing action, this is why when you have a break from the game your body forgets aspects of your swing and your swing deteriorates.
When you take a golf lesson you will come away having learnt some very important tips and normally you will have learnt a number of golf swing drills which you will be able to take away with you to practice at home or when you next go to play a game of golf. As time advances and dependent on the development of your game you should find that as your body gets better at swinging your golf club you will notice a better consistency in your shots and as your golf swing speed increases you will hit the ball further. In my opinion I have always felt that improving your golf swing it is like building a wall in the sense that you start with a sound foundation with your golf swing basics and then the more you can practice the more you will be able to build a strong golf swing.
