UEFA Champions League Preview – 22/11/2011
UEFA Champions League Preview – Game week 5
Man Utd & Man City are back in Champions league action this evening and both have hopes of securing their passage into the Knockout stages of the Champions league.
We begin our UEFA Champions League preview at Old Trafford where last years finalists take on Benfica. Man Utd currently top the group on goal difference ahead of Benfica but a win tonight will effectively see the red devils through. After having fitness fears earlier in the week with Wayne Rooney he now looks fit enough to partner Javier Hernandez in the United strike force. Benfica will be looking to make sure they don’t lose the game and may come to Old Trafford to get a draw.
The match will certainly be one of the must watch Champions League fixtures of the night and I expect United to get the victory they need.
The other game in Group C is a must win game for Basel who must defeat Otelul Galati in order to keep their hope of qualification for the knock out stage alive.
Moving onto Man Utd’s noisy neighbours Man City in our UEFA Champions league preview who travel to Italy to face Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo, which is famous for its ferocious atmosphere. City will be desperate for a victory as a draw or a loss could mean they will need to beat group leaders Bayern Munich when the 2 teams meet in the last game of the group stages.
Napoli have a fantastic home record in European competition and Man City’s host of stars will have to work hard to get a win. Unfortunately i can see the best result for City being a draw which means that City will have to better or match the result Napoli gets in its final game.
Continuing our UEFA Champions league preview in group A with Bayern Munich knowing a win or a draw against Villareal will mean they will win the group.
UEFA Champions League Preview – Rest of Europe
Moving away from the English teams in our UEFA Champions league preview and to Group B where Inter Milan travel to Turkey to face Trabzonspor in what will no doubt be a hostile environment. Also in group B Lille travel to CSKA Moscow knowing a win will keep their knockout phase dream alive.
In the only other group remaining in our UEFA Champions League preview group D leaders face Dinamo Zagreb knowing a draw will secure their passage to the next round. Whilst Lyon travel to Ajax in a must win game where if they lose they will be resigned to Europa League football in 2012.
Well that wraps up our UEFA Champions league preview for today be sure to check back for more Champions league fixtures & results across the season where we will feature more UEFA Champions League Preview.
