Sports News Headlines – Rory McIlroy Wins the US Open and more
Rory McIlroy created history last night when he won the 2011 US Open at Congressional at just 22 years of age he became the youngest Major winner since Tiger Woods in 1997 and the youngest US Open winner in 88 years. It was a record breaking week for McIlroy where is final score of 16 under par was the tournament record and was the best by 4 clear shots.
McIlroy was simply unstoppable all week and it never really looked in any doubt that he would win the tournament he won the tournament by 8 clear shots from the Australian Jason Day who secured his 2nd conseutive runner up finish after finishing second in the Masters earlier this year. Read more…

Daily Sports News Round up – French Open Tennis and NHL Playoffs
Lets begin our round up of Wednesdays Sporting headlines by looking at the French Open and Andy Murray and British Tennis hopes. After dispatching Viktor Troicki in a 5 set thriller Andy Murray had to deal with the unseeded Argentinian Juan Ignacio Chela. Andy Murray dealt with this task in a much simpler fashion winning in straight sets 7-6 (7-2) 7-5 6-2 to set up a semi Final with Rafa Nadal. Murray will enter the game as a big underdog to Rafael Nadal who is one of if not the best Clay court players ever. In the other semi final Roger Federer aims to stop Novak Djokovic 41 straight wins in 2011. The worlds top 4 tennis players all have a chance to win the French Open.
Now moving to Canada and the NHL for game one of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs where the Boston Bruins took on the Vancouver Canucks. The game was a tightly contested affair with the Canucks superstars the Daniel & Henrik Sedin left frustrated at not being able to break down the stubborn Bruins defence. However a goal came but after 59 & a half minutes of scoreless play, with 18 and a half seconds left Raffi Torres scored to give the Canucks a dramatic win. The win now gives them the advantage in the series and will give Canadian hockey fans hope of bringing the Stanley Cup to Canada. Read more…

Daily Sport News Round up – Champions League Final
Here is your round up of Saturday’s sporting event stories and well start at perhaps the biggest headline news story of the day. The Champions League final at Wembley where Barcelona showed they are the best club team in the world with an awe inspiring 3-1 win over Manchester United. Barcelona dominated the game from the beginning to the end and Manchester United could never get a foothold in the game. Barcelona’s dominance in the game was proven in the stat lines they controlled 68% of the possession and out shot Manchester United 16 to 3 showing how much control they had on this game. The game began with Manchester United starting strongly but it wasn’t long before Barcelona took control with their passing game and opened the scoring with a slotted finish from Pedro from a slick passing move. Manchester United’s equaliser came from an equally slick passing move and a Sublime Finish from Wayne Rooney leaving the two teams level at half time. In the second half Barcelona turned on the style with two fantastic finishes from Lionel Messi & David Villa and never gave Manchester United a chance. A touching end to the game where Eric Abidal lifted the famous trophy after only just having Life saving surgery on a tumour on his liver.
