NCAA Tournament 2012 – March Madness begins

NCAA Tournament 2012After all of the major conference tournaments its was then down to seeing what the make up of the bracket for the NCAA Tournament 2012 would bring. Selection Sunday came with surprise omissions and surprise selections who will be playing in the NCAA Tournament 2012.

March Madness will begin with 4 play in games on March 13th &14th with the NCAA Tournament 2012 starting on March 15th. With 4 teams hoping to make the Final Four 2012 in New Orleans beginning on March 31st.

Kentucky, North Carolina, Syracuse & Michigan State Top Seeds – NCAA Tournament 2012

Looking at this years bracket sees Kentucky being ranked the top seed of the tournament with the other 3 top seeds being North Carolina, Syracuse & Michigan State. Only 1 of the top 4 seeds secured their conference tournament championship with Michigan State winning the Big 10.

The 2nd ranked NCAA Tournament 2012 seeds sees Duke, Kansas, Missouri & Ohio State who will be thinking that maybe they deserved a shot a top seed spot.

As always with the NCAA Tournaments most teams miss out on making it to the dance. This year was no exception with teams like Pac 12 regular season champions Washington, Seton Hall & Drexel many teams who were on the bubble but there bubble was burst.

Iona shock pick for the NCAA Tournament 2012

Yet there were teams who surprised many as to there inclusion in the 2012 NCAA Tournament and this years biggest surprise was the Iona Gaels. Iona had a 25-7 record and come from the MAAC conference and will face off against BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 2012.

This is the time of year when College basketball find their printable brackets and enter into sweepstakes at work to see who will come out victorious at the NCAA Tournament 2012. College Basketball Scores 2012 – 9th February 2012

College Basketball Scores – Buzzer Beater win for Duke

College basketball scoresIn an entertaining evening of College Basketball scores on Wednesday the highlight game of the evening was being played at the Dean Smith Center in North Carolina.

We begin our look at Wednesday’s College Basketball scores with the biggest rivalry in the ACC where number 9 ranked Duke Blue Devils took on 5th ranked North Carolina. The matchup was decided by a 3 point buzzer beater from freshman guard Austin Rivers to get the rivalry win for the Blue Devils. Rivers scored a season high 29 points as the Blue Devils shocked the Tar Heels who never looked like losing the game.

In more 2012 College Basketball scores the second ranked team in the College Basketball rankings Syracuse take on Big East rivals Georgetown ranked 11th in the country.

The game was decided in Overtime after the scores were tied at 55 with Syracuse getting their 24th win of the season with the 64-61. In a side note for the game Syracuse coach Jim Boehim passed Coach Dean Smith for 3rd place in the All-Time wins for Division 1 Mens Basketball Coaches.

In more College Basketball scores 2012 saw 10th ranked Kansas cause a minor upset by defeating 6th Ranked Baylor at the Ferrell Center. Kansa has a Career night from their 7 foot Center Jeff Withey as he scored 25 points on the way to Kansas’s 68 -54 win.

2012 College Basketball Scores – BC stun Florida State

In another of the upset College Basketball scores saw Boston College defeat their first ranked opponent in 3 years. Boston College defeated the 17th ranked Florida State 64-60 after previously losing their last 6 games.

In the days other College Basketball scores saw the 3 ranked opponents win their match ups with 12th ranked Michigan State defeating Penn State 77-57. 20th ranked Virginia defeated unranked Wake Forest 68-44 whilst 25th ranked Michigan had a big win against Nebraska 62-46.

College Basketball Tip Off 2011

college basketballWith the NBA Lockout putting professional basketball on hiatus the years College Basketball season will carry a bigger weight with hoops fans looking for basketball action.

This years College basketball tip off took place over the weekend and will continue on over the rest of the week. North Carolina currently top the College basketball rankings and they kicked off there season against Michigan State in the Carrier Classic.

North Carolina took on Michigan state on the USS Carl Vinson and got their 2011 College basketball season to a winning start with a 67-55 win infront of US President Barack Obama.

In other College basketball scores Duke the perennial basketball powerhouse kicked off their season with back to back wins. In a tight opening contest against Belmont, in their second contest of the year they dismantled the Presbyterian blue house 96-55 to notch up Mike Krzyzewski’s 902nd win of his career to tie Bob Knights record.

As the College basketball schedule kicks off many fans will be wondering if there teams will be able to win a national championship and will be hoping their College basketball recruiting has added the extra quality to their line up.

College Basketball 2011 – Upsets in week 1

As with any top 25 College basketball rankings there will always be plenty of movement within the rankings throughout the year. This was proved after the weekends action where Vanderbilt fell 13 spots after their shock lost Cleveland State over the weekend. Vanderbilt were ranked 7th in the preseason polls and are now ranked 20th in the first regular season poll.

A team has already fell out of the top 25 college basketball rankings when they lost to Loyola Marymount and have now tumbled out of the rankings.
