Sports News Stories – Tiger Woods at the Bridgestone invitational and Football season preview

After finishing his 1st round at 2under par on Thursday Tiger Woods was apart of the early tee times after being one of the later tee times on Thursday. Woods wasn’t as polished in his second round and finished with a 1 over round of 71. After 2 rounds Tiger is still 1 under par but will be a fair distance behind the tournament leader who currently sits on 8 under par. Woods appears to be showing no signs of missing his caddie Steve Williams with his friend Byron Bell doing a good job on the Bag.

Meanwhile Steve Williams is enjoying his time with Adam Scott who currently sits on top of the leaderboard with Jason Day & Rickie Fowler. The big golf news this weekend has been the return of Tiger Woods but the other golfers in the field are trying to make the headlines for themselves by winning the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

Moving away from golf and onto some football news and i can already hear the cheers as football is well and truly back. This weekend sees the Football League kick off with teams in the Championship, League 1 & League 2. With the beginning of the season always brings new hope and optimism of your team getting promotion or even winning the League. For lower league fans its also a chance to see your teams news signing as the team from last season will have had a major overhaul.

So lets break down the leagues Individually and look at a Football League preview and start with the Npower Championship with Leicester perhaps the standout favourites at the beginning of the Season. Leicester have spent big this season in the hope of reaching the Premier league. The recently relegated teams Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham will also be vying to get back to the big time with a higher emphasis being on West Ham with their imminent move to the Olympic stadium after the 2012 Olympics. As always the Championship will be an exciting league to watch as the qualify within the is high with multiple teams having Premier league experience. My 3 picks for promotion are Leicester, West Ham & Leeds.

Moving onto league 1 and the big name teams can continue to be founding this league with no fewer than 3 teams who have played in the Premier league. Sheffield United who were relegated into this season head the list of teams in this league and its highlight will be playing city rivals Wednesday this season. In recent seasons promoted teams have done well in this division and the incoming crop of Bournemouth & Chesterfield will feature strongly this season. My picks for promotion are Charlton, Bournemouth & Sheffield United.

Finally our look at league 2 and favourites for this league appear to be recently promoted Crawley Town who have one of the biggest budgets in the League. After their successful FA Cup run last season which saw them defeated at Old Trafford & their dominance of the conference many are expecting them to continue their form into the football league. AFC Wimbledon are also a highlight of this years season after 5 promotions Wimbledon are back in the football league. Swindon, Shrewsbury,Plymouth & Crawley are the teams who will make the jump to Npower league 2.
