Some of my thoughts on American Football Games

There is no doubting I am a massive sports fan one place which physically demonstrates this fact is in my love of sports video games. In real sports terms I am a pretty average player of a wide range of sports, I am a mid handicapper in golf, I play football competitive with friends once a week and in an organised league on Sundays, one thing for certain I will never be a professional sportsman. This is where the computer games come into play, a computer game allows you a taste of stardom by controlling your favorite team and its star players.
As I live in the UK one type of sports game I purchase very frequently is American football games, for me American football is the one sport I have never been able to take part in due to the nearest team being about 30 miles away from where I live so the computer is the place where I get to test my skills. The question I constantly get asked is what are the best American football games, in all honesty I find this a very difficult question as all platforms have their merits for example if I were to look at the American football games on PS3 for example many of these same games such as the Madden franchise will also be available on many other consoles as well as PC and MAC.
Due to the generic availability of these games across all platforms for many years many American football games became stagnant this was until in recent years when it became possible to play American football games online. What in effect this means is that in days of old you pitched your wits against the computer which with practice can be beat by using a solid strategy, however with online play the number of opponents is much greatly increased which increases the life and playability of the game itself. Another major advantage of online play is that you are able to maintain a global ranking score so you are able to monitor your progress and take part in online leagues and events also.
Currently I have started learning about additional types of online american football games which utilise social networking mediums so it is even possible to play american football games on facebook some of these games rely purely on comic effect where other games are much more detailed and rely on strategy. An example of a strategy based game is the fantasy football style games where you pick real life NFL players via a draft format or by using a prearranged salary cap system. The variety of American football games is huge and like me you should give all types your consideration as quite often you will be able to play multiple game types at the same time such as fantasy and console based games.
