The 2011 Presidents Cup is competed in a match play style between a team of International players and a Team of American players. In this years competition the International team is captained by Greg Norman with the American team captained by Fred Couples.

The selection process to be included on the Presidents Cup team is based upon their World ranking for the international team and PGA tour earnings for the U.S team.

The Presidents cup format is on the 1st day there are 6 matches of foursomes, with the second day consisting of 6 matches of four ball. With the 3rd day split into 2 halves with 5 matches of foursomes in the morning and 5 matches of four ball in the afternoon. The fourth and final day features 12 single matches.

This years American Presidents cup team features some high calibre players featuring Tiger Woods, Phil Mickleson & Steve Stricker. 2011 Presidents Cup

In order for either team to lift the Presidents cup a team must get at least a total of 17.5 Presidents Cup points from the 34 points which are up for grabs. Players win a full point for winning their match & a half point if their match is tied.

My Presidents Cup prediction will be to pick the American team to lift the Presidents Cup trophy come Sunday purely because of the strength throughout their team. However don’t rule out the International team as match play competitions can throw out some interesting results.

Well that completes our 2011 Presidents Cup preview and beside to check back for the latest Presidents Cup scores & daily recaps.
