Premiership Results – 10th December 2011
Premiership Results Saturday 10th December 2011
So I think we can agree this year’s Barclays Premier League is not sticking to the normal formula we have seen in the last couple of seasons. Todays Premiership results are certainly continuing to fit the unpredictable trend for this season, so lets begin to look at the latest Premiership results.
Our first game takes us to Carrow Road where we see the Canaries of Norwich city meet the Magpies of Newcastle united, both teams have had many pleasing Premiership results in recent weeks so this was an intriguing matchup. The home team were first to draw blood with Hoolahan finding the net after 39 minutes play, however the Magpies kept focussed and the sensational Demba Ba drew level in stoppage time meaning the half time score was 1-1. The Second half was a slightly different affair with Norwich asserting their dominance with Grant Holt and Steve Morrison building their lead to 3-1, worse was to come for Newcastle with Dan Gosling seeing red before Ba bagged his second before Holt headed in his second goal to confirm the 4-2 win for Norwich.
The next Premiership results that caught my attention concerned teams at the top and bottom of the Premiership table, over at Old Trafford we saw Manchester United play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers. After their midweek exit of the Champions league Man United now have the task to improve their Barclays Premiership results and challenge arch rivals Manchester City. United Supporters will be relieved to hear their team managed to improve on recent performances by leading Wolves 2-0 after Nani then Rooney scored before half time. After half time Stephen Fletcher got one back for Wolves almost imediately but normal service was restored at Old Trafford with Nani then Rooney scoring again, the final score was 4-1 to United suggesting their Premiership results might begin to improve.
Over at the Emirates there was an altogether more tighter game between Arsenal and Everton, Premiership results for these teams need to improve firstly for Arsenal to overcome their poor start to the season and Everton to avoid a relegation battle. It was the Home side who took the spoils this afternoon after Robin Van Persie struck home in the 70th minute, this 1-0 victory sparked celebration for Arsenal who were celebrating the club’s 125th anniversary. Although this result is not disasterous for Everton their Premiership results must improve to open the 5 point gap they have from the dropzone.
The red side of Liverpool were left smiling after their game with QPR ended with a 1-0 victory for Liverpool, Luis Suarez captured this win just after half time when he headed the ball home following a Charlie Adam free kick. If Liverpool’s Premiership results continue in this fashion a Champions league spot should be a cert.
At the Reebok Stadium in Bolton an out of form away team Aston Villa were about to perform a killer blow to Bolton’s survival hopes and continue their terrible run of Premiership results. Villa were 2-0 up at half time with goals coming from Marc Albrighton first then Stilian Petrov with a stunning 25 yard strike finding the net, via a small deflection. A second half goal from Ivan Klasnic could not prevent Bolton from the loss, Villa on the other hand could celebrate their first away win of the season which pushes them into the top half of the table courtesy of recent Premiership results.
Premiership Results – What about at the bottom ?
Wigan Athletic started the day at the bottom of the Premiership table due to their latest Premiership results being way below par, things did not look like improving with a tough away game against West Bromwich Albion. However after going behind to a Stephen Reid free kick, Wigan rallied with Victor Moses firing into the top corner from 18 yards before being fouled by Reid in the penalty area the resulting penalty was converted by Jordi Gomez. This 2-1 Wigan victory means Wigan jump 2 places up the Premiership table above Blackburn and now bottom placed Bolton, with things so close at the bottom any improvement in Premiership results will see Wigan leave the relegation zone.
Last but not least of the latest Premiership results we get Fulham travelling to Swansea in this mid table tie. The hero of this game has to be the evermore impressive Swansea Goalkeeper Michel Vorm, some stunning saves saw him keep a deserved clean sheet. More importantly Swansea capitalised by getting Clint Dempsey to find his own net to give the Swans the lead, the victory was fully secured however when Danny Graham converted from a corner kick to give Swansea a 2-0 win continuing a good run of Premiership results.
So that rounds off todays Premiership football results which means we should now turn our focus to Monday nights meeting between Manchester City and Chelsea, I certainly will be checking for the latest Premiership Results live on Monday night aswell as for tommorows games between Sunderland and Blackburn followed by Tottemham and Stoke.
