Premier League Results – Saturday 15th October 2011
In todays Premier League Results we have seen some fantastic matches, these results have had a direct impact on many of the leagues standings. In addition to this we have seen a welcome return to form from the legendary Liverpool FC, it is their game against Manchester United which forms our initial focus of this Premier League Results run down.
Todays fixtures at Anfield saw Manchester United and Liverpool meet in what Alex Ferguson had earlier described as the biggest game in world football, there are few who would disagree with this bold statement. Although previous English Premier League Results sway in Uniteds favour, last seasons fixture saw Ferguson’s men beaten 3-1 by a Liverpool team beggining to find their feet again, todays United line up saw a more defensive set up. The game on the whole saw a general lack of real excitement in what was a game where the midfielders and defenders virtually cancelled out each other, this did’nt mean the game was lacking class.
To many it might actually be surprising that Liverpool won the class battle, with United looking tired at times, it was because of this that Liverpool found themselves taking the lead after the returning Steven Gerard powered a free kick through the United Wall. In response Ferguson made some attacking changes which lead to United retaking the lead with 9 minutes to spare when Javier Hernandez headed in from inside the six yard box. I have no doubt Ferguson will have been playing special attention to the other English Premier League results, especially the outcome of the Manchester City game.
So looking at other important premier league results today we now look at the Manchester City game where they met Aston Villa. By the end of the 90 minutes in this game smiles on the Blue side of Manchester will be a little wider tommorow, and if their Barclays Premier League results continue in this fashion they will surely hold their place at the top of the Premier league table. This was because they totally dominated Villa by beating them 4 goals to 1, the highlight of this for City fans was the Balotelli overhead kick which opened the scoring.
Premier League Results for the remaining games
Elsewhere the other Premier league results had more bearing on the bottom and middle of the table, Chelsea however in todays evening game saw them put out another impresive performance with a 3-1 victory over a frustrated Everton team. Ironically both teams will need to see their Premier league results improve for Chelsea they need to keep tabs on United and Man City where as Everton remain mid table just 2 point out of the relegation places.
At Carrow Road we saw a meeting of 2 of the Premier League new boys in Norwich and Swansea both teams have seen their Premier league results give them respectable mid table spots. In fact both teams started on 8 points, however this was a short lived luxury for Swansea as Norwich took control within a minute of Kick off Anthony Pilkington fired a lovely volley into the net after just 49 seconds. From this point on Norwich were never behind and ended up winning 3-1 in an impressive performance.
QPR also started todays game with 8 points, this was before they met the league’s bottom club Blackburn, Heidar Helguson looked to add to the chain of poor Premier League results for Blackburn after a 16th minute goal this was until Chris Samba claimed a point for Blackburn with his headed goal in the 26th minute. Steve Kean must be thinking time is running out now as he desperately continues to improve his Premier League Results record.
In the two remaining Premier league results we saw Bolton climb of the foot of the table and out of the relegation spots with a 3-1 win over Wigan, celebrations should not be too great as this win for Bolton only moves them one point ahead of Wigan and one point out of the drop zone. The final game in our Premier league results round up is a predictable 2-0 win for Stoke over Fulham as stoke continue to build on a succession of excellent Premier League Results.
