Premier League Match Preview – Sunday 21st August 2011

empty stadiumAfter 5 great Premier League matches on Saturday we now look ahead to the 3 matches on Sunday and home opener for Man Utd at Old Trafford. Lets take a preview of these Premier League fixtures and make my Premier League Predictions.

Norwich v Stoke

Norwich on the opening weekend were the only newly promoted club to pick up any points after they picked up a battling draw at the JJB Stadium against Wigan. Stoke also battled to a point when they managed a goalless draw against last years runners up Chelsea. Both teams would have been happy with their results last weekend and both will be looking for a win. Norwich will have to cope with Stoke’s tactics and set ball ability.

Prediction 1-1

Wolves v Fulham

Wolves got their season off to the perfect start by defeating Blackburn 2-1 at Ewood Park whilst visitors Fulham may feel disapointed to have only gotten a point against Aston Villa. Wolves have added quality over the summer in the form of Roger Johnson & Jamie O’Hara and Wolves fans can look forward to a less nail biting season and should be comfortably safe by next May. Fulham also have added quality which will help them in the Premier League and the Europa League but will taste defeat for the first time this season.

Prediction 1-0

Bolton v Man City

The game sees the current top 2 of the Premier League after they both won 4 nil against newly promoted sides. Bolton fans will have no doubt enjoyed the opening weekend but will know that they will face a tougher challenge when Man City arrive at the Reebok. On Monday Man City were sensational and that was before Sergio Aguero took to the field, and then they looked invincible which would have sent shockwaves around the league. As much as i think Man City will win this game it will be a much tougher task than there game on Monday.

Prediction 1-2

Man Utd v Tottenham

Monday Night Football sees the Champions Man Utd get their first home match of the season underway against Tottenham who for this game will be their season opener. Man Utd opened the season with a 2-1 win against West Brom but the win came at a cost with central defenders Vidic & Ferdinand taken off injured. It will be the first chance for Spurs fans to see their squad in competitive action and transfer target Adebayor may get his first start in a spurs shirt if his loan move can go through in time for him to play. Tottenham have not had much luck at old Trafford in past seasons and i cant see that changing on Monday night even with United’s injury worries.

Prediction 3-1
