NFL London 2011 – NFL International Series

One thing is clear for the NFL Wembley has been a hit, every year people are talking about NFL London. In fact this year is the very first NFL London game that I won’t be attending, I guess 4 out of five of the NFL International series games is not bad. This year is especially dissapointing as NFL London 2011 involves my 2 favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For me getting hold of my NFL London tickets was something of sheer exitement and anticipation, for those of you who are regular visitors to Real Sporting News you will know that although we are based in the UK we love american sports.

NFL London 2011 – Why so special this year

From the mid eightys I was introduced to the NFL by my father, my first Superbowl memory was from 1986 when the Chicago Bears beat the Patriots back in 1986 when I was just 6 years old. The following year my uncle brought back from an american business trip a Chicago bears hat, from that day forward I have followed american football avidly. The NFL London game therefore became a big deal for me and my brother especially my dad, for the NFL Wembley Stadium has formed the perfect ampitheatre to bring the NFL back to London. I even got to see the London Monarchs back in 1992 this was where the NFL London Wembley connection began in the original stadium before being rebuilt.

Tommorows NFL London game sees the return of The Buccaneers who appear in their second NFL International series game, the Bucs are difinately my 2nd favorite team based on my family ties to Tampa. I really hope that both of my teams give a good showing in this years NFL London International series. Of course Tampa were Superbowl champions most recently in 2003 when they beat the Oakland Raiders in an emphatic victory 48 points to 23, their head coach back then was Jon Gruden. This bowl game became known as the Gruden Bowl as prior to joining the Bucs in 2002 Gruden had coached the Raiders between 1998 and 2001.

Simply put the NFL London 2011 game has great significance for me and hopefully you too will be able to enjoy the awesome spectacle also. The NFL London game starts at 5.30 pm tommorow so make sure you tune in to see the action I certainly will be.
