International Football Results 7th October 2011
With the Euro 2012 Qualifiers drawing to a close with the penultimate round of qualifying taking place tonight there are a host of International football results. In a night where 4 of the home nations were in action and there was a mixed bag of results.
We begin our look at tonight’s International football results by looking at England’s match against Montenegro where a point would be enough for England to qualify for the championships next summer. A point is exactly what England got in a 2-2 draw where Montenegro scored late in either half for a historic result. Ashley Young & Darren Bent scored for England in the first 35 minutes but Montenegro took over from that point and thoroughly deserved their point with Zverotic & Delibasic scoring for the home team.
The game will however be overshadowed by a Red card for England star Wayne Rooney who kicked out an an opponent when he lost possession of the ball. The red card will take effect in the Euro 2012 championships where he could miss a minimum of 1 game.
International Football Results – Remaining Games
In other International football results from Group G Wales defeated Switzerland 2 nil thanks to goals from Gareth Bale and Captain Aaron Ramsey.
Another home nation to register a International football results today was the Republic of Ireland who defeated Andorra 2-0 to set up a crucial final game with Armenia. Republic of Ireland need to secure at least a draw on Tuesday night to get themselves a spot in the playoffs.
The only negative international football result for the home nations was Northern Ireland’s 2-1 home loss to Estonia. Northern Ireland had lead in the match and this loss will heap more pressure on boss Nigel Worthington.
In other European International football results Netherlands got a 1 nil win over Moldova & France defeated Albania 3 nil and both will be at the Championships next year.
