Emirates Australian Open Golf 2011 Day 2
The Emirates Australian Open moved into Day 2 and the story of the day was the form of Tiger Woods who again showed signs of a return to form.
Woods began Day 2 of the Emirates Australian Open 3 shots back of Day 1 leader Jarrod Lyle but he ended the day at the top of the Emirates Australian Open leaderboard. Woods shot a 5 under par 67 which included seven birdies & 2 bogeys as he earned a one shot lead at the Australian Open golf tournament.
The form of the former World number 1 Woods has lead to many believe he is finally back in top form, but he will have to continue in this rich vein of form to keep the chasing pack behind him come Sunday.
His nearest competitor at the 2011 Emirates Australian Open is Peter O’Malley who carded a 6 under par 66 to sit one behind Woods at the half way stage. O’Malley is a Member at the Lakes Golf Course in Sydney birdied his last 2 holes to finish the day in 2nd place on his own.
Emirates Australian Open – Overnight leader falls down the leaderboard
Yesterdays overnight leader Jarrod Lyle didn’t fare to well in his 2nd round as he shot a 2 over round 74 which saw him slip to being tied for 5th place on 5 under par. Despite a poor second day Lyle still has a big chance of making an impact on the top of the Emirates Australian Open Leaderboard over the weekend.
Australian favourite Adam Scott is also still in the hunt for the 2011 Australian Open golf tournament after he shot a 1 under round of 71. It sees him sit tied for 10th on 4 under par which is 5 shots back from Tiger Woods.
The Emirates Australian Open golf tournament is played at the Lakes Golf Club which was established back in 1928 and is one of the top clubs in Sydney. The location of the course is only 15 minutes away from Sydney airport by car. Which is handy for those players who are looking to make a speedy getaway after missing this weekends cut.
