Dallas Mavericks Win the NBA Playoff Finals 2011 and Daily News Headlines
Dallas Mavericks 2011 NBA Finals champions something people in Dallas and the surrounding areas will not get tired of hearing, whereas on South Beach the Heat will already have forgotten about the Finals series. On Sunday evening at the American Airlines Arena in Miami the Mavericks over came the Heat to win the Franchises 1st championship title and quashed the demons of the 2006 NBA finals where they squandered a 2nil lead to the Heat.
The Game was effectively over when Dirk Nowitzki hit a jumper by the Heat bench with 2:27 putting the Mavs up 99-89 which sent many Heats fans to the exits. The lead never got any smaller with the score at the final buzzer was 105- 95 in favour of the NBA’s best the Dallas Mavericks.
In a game the Dallas Mavericks never really looked liked losing they seemed hungrier knowing 1 win will give them what they so richly desired. The Mavericks took the opportunities that the Heat presented to them by scoring 27 points off turnovers & the Heats lack of ability to grab a rebound. The Heat were also awful from the Free Throw line missing 13 of 33 Free Throws.
They Heat were very much their own worst enemy despite NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki finishing 9 for 27 they couldn’t find a way to win. The Mavs will be thankful to Veteran Jason Terry who top scored with 27 points and helped the Mavs to their historic Game 6 win.
The Mavs will now look forward to the off season and will be looking to coming back next season to defend their title.
So what next for the Miami Heat they will have to regroup in the off season and use the vision of seeing the Mavericks party on there court as fuel for the next season. Lebron James will have to take a long look in the mirror as he delivered a below par performance and not what you would expect from “King James”. He was too often found hiding when the Heat needed him unlike Dirk Nowitzki who out scored the same points total in the 4th quarter as Wade & Lebron combined with 62.
The Heat will also not have the same swagger as they did entering this season as they can be beaten and this humbling performance may in the long run benefit the Heat and only time will tell if they are able to bounce back.
From a personal view i’m glad the Mavs won as they won with a team effort with the bench supporting their starters and Jason Terry was the proof of that great bench support. I believe the Heat will win a title if not titles and I do hope Lebron gets his ring but there will be 1 thing which can be certain Lebron James name can never be mentioned in the same sentance as Kobe or Jordan.
Moving away from Basketball and heading now to America’s summer sport Baseball where Derek Jeter is chasing history and is now only 7 hits shy of the 3000 hit mark after 2 hits in the Yankees 9-1 win over the Cleveland Indians.
