Daily Sports news stories – Ricky Hatton, Football Transfer News and Scottish Open Golf

Welcome to Real Sporting News round up of the days sporting action and we shall start by looking at some Boxing News.

In what has been a sad end to a brilliant boxing career Ricky Hatton has officially retired from Boxing after having 18 months away from the sport. His exodus from the sport has been in part due to having his licence stripped from him in part to his alleged cocaine use.

Lets not dwell on the latter part of his career as Hatton was perhaps the greatest British Welterweight of all time and will finish his career with a record of 45-2 with his 2 losses coming against Floyd Mayweather & Manny Pacquiao, who are widely considered the best pound for pound boxers.

Hatton’s biggest win he defeated Austrailian Kostya Tszyu at the MEN Arena in Manchester, which announced his arrival at the top level of the sport. Lets hope Hatton can be remembered for all the good he did for British boxing.

Moving away from boxing and to the latest football news and Sunderland have been busy in the transfer market by capturing the two Man Utd defender’s Wes Brown & John O’shea to take their total of new signings this summer to 8. Sunderland also appear to be in the market for Blackpool’s David Vaughan which will take them to 9 signings, Sunderland must have reinvested their Jordan Henderson transfer fee from Liverpool.

Speaking of Liverpool they have captured the signing of Scotland International Charlie Adam who has been a long term target of Kenny Dagleish who failed to lure the midfielder away in the January Transfer Window.

In one final transfer rumour Cesc Fabregas has revelled to Arsenal team mates that he has played his last game for the Gunners and is expecting to leave the club before the transfer window slams shut.

The first Round of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart which is the usual warm up tournament to the British Open and Lee Westwood has started like a man chasing the world number 1 spot. Westwood carded 6 Birdies & an Eagle to finish tied for the lead on 7 under par with Mark Tullo of Chile. Ryder Cup Champion Colin Mongomerie was the surprise player of the 1st round and sits just 2 shots off the lead. Montgomerie is tied on 5 under with World Number 1 Luke Donald who will be in contention come Sunday afternoon.
