Daily Sports News Stories – NFL News, 2012 Olympics and Transfer Rumours
NFL, NFL, NFL is dominating the sport news as expected with the lifting of the NFL Lockout on Monday with signings and trade rumours for each 32 NFL teams.
One of the biggest reported trades features the Minesota Vikings & Washington Redskins with a deal to trade Quarterback Donovan Mcnabb pretty much done and dusted. The Redskins who have been looking to get rid of the Pro Bowl Quarterback since benching the veteran towards the end of last season. The Vikings will give the Redskins a 6th round pick in the 2012 draft and a conditional 6th round pick in 2013. The Vikings have been in the market for a veteran quarter back after Brett Favre retired at the end of the season and have been looking for a mentor for the 1st round draft pick Christian Ponder. A great deal for the Vikings who have only had to give up draft picks to obtain a number 1 QB.
McNabb’s former back up at the Philadelphia Eagles Kevin Kolb also appears to be moving onto pastures new with the Arizona Cardinals his likely destination. At the start of last season Kolb was the number 1 quarterback for the Eagles but a concussion in game 1 gave Michael Vick the starting job and the rest they say is history. The move will see Kolb get his chance to be a starter in the NFL after 4 years of being McNabbs backup. Kolb will compete with Derek Anderson & Max Hall for the starting job but after their poor season last year the starters job is pretty much a given.
In a quick round up of the other American football news, Santonio Holmes has agreed a deal with the New York Jets in a reported 5 year $50million deal and the Tennessee Titans appear to have a deal to sign free agent Matt Hasselbeck.
Moving away from NFL News and onto the 2012 Olympics with today marking the year to the day that the London Olympics will have its opening ceremony. With the Olympic planning committee claiming they are ahead of schedule and under budget the British public are eagerly anticipating the start of the games. The Olympics will bring some of the greatest athletes to the UK for the first time since the Olympics were held in Great Britain in 1948 and will be the 3rd time the country has hosted the event.
In a final look at the headline news Sergio Aguero is very close to completing his £38million move to Man City after flying into Manchester to finalise his deal and have his medical. Aguero has used Twitter to announce that everything is going well, after missing out on Sanchez to Barcelona Man City have finally landed their high profile signing.
