The biggest story on sporting events comes from football news with Man City’s capture of the Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero for a fee believed to be in the region of £39million.
Aguero joins Man City from Athletico Madrid where he made 175 Appearances & scored 74 goals, a stellar record from any striker but Aguero is only 23 years old and will be a top player for many years to come. Aguero has signed a contract which is worth roughly £175000 per week making him one of the best paid player in the Premier League.
Man City are now building a squad which is capable of performing in the Premier league & the Champions League which will be the citizens main targets this year, with Alex Ferguson claiming that city will be a title rival this season.
In other football news Blackburn look set to lose their captain Christopher Samba with him stating his desire to play Champions league football and Arsenal appear to be his likely destination. In a final transfer rumour Chelsea will make 1 final effort to sign Spurs Luka Modric and will test heir resolve with a £30million bid.
Moving away from football and onto some cricket news and ahead of the 2nd test both teams appear to be having struggles getting their seamers fit. England Paceman Christ Tremlett appears to be suffering from back and hamstring problems which was demonstrated when he was unable to finish practice today. India’s Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the second test as he has not yet fully recovered from his hamstring injury which he picked up in the first test. India will now have to decide between Sreesanth & Munaf Patel to complete their bowling attack for the second test.
The American football news continues to be frenzied with multiple deals and trade rumours happening now that the NFL Lockout has been lifted. The biggest story to come today has been the news that Albert Haynesworth has been traded from the Redskins. Haynesworth had a dogged time last season at Washington with coach Shanahan benching the defensive tackle for being out of shape. Haynesworth was traded to the New England Patriots for a 2013 5th round pick and will move back into a 4-3 scheme which saw the best out of Haynesworth when he was at Tennessee. The Redskins have made 2 big trades in the 48 hours since the lifting of the lockout and in their eyes have cleaned out most of their dead wood.
In other football news Reggie Bush has been traded to the Miami Dolphins and former Green Bay guard Daryn Colledge has signed terms with the Arizona Cardinals on a 5 year deal worth $27.5million.
