Daily Sports News Stories – Football News and Tiger Woods Return
With the run up to the start of the football season teams are looking at putting the final pieces to the squads before the season kicks off. The Football League kicks off on Saturday and the Championship big spenders Leicester are looking at adding another signing after the capture of Paul Konchesky & John Pantsil 2 players with Premier league experience. Leicester have reported put a £7million bid in for Shane Long who has caught the eye of Premier League teams this summerbut with no clubs having made a formal offer it seems as though Sven Goran Eriksson may bring another high profile name to the Walkers Stadium.
After appearing to have been priced out of a move for Phil Jagielka Arsenal appear to have shifted their focus to Birmingham defender Scott Dann to help bolster their defence. Birmingham appear to be willing to sell in a bid to help balance the books at St Andrews with their owner appearing to be in money troubles with a bid of £10million likely to get Dann’s signature.
In other transfer news Dimitar Berbatov is subject to a bid from French Club Paris Saint German & Barcelona are making a final push to sign Cesc Fabregas with an increased bid of £35million.
Moving away from transfer rumours and onto football news where Rangers have been sent crashing out of the Champions League qualification after a 2-1 aggregate loss to Swedish club Malmo. Rangers had 2 men sent off in the 1-1 draw which ultimately wasn’t enough as Rangers face Europa League Qualification.
In Golf News Tiger Woods returns to professional golf after slipping out of the Worlds top 20 golfers when he plays at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. The last time we saw Woods on the golf course he was leaving the Players Championship after injuries to his knee & achilles. Woods will be playing his first round since sacking his caddie Steve Williams and has left many people asking who will be Tiger Woods next caddie be?
Well a short term fix appears to be Tiger’s childhood friend Byron Bell who caddied for Tiger in his amateur days and a handful of pro competitions will be on his bag this week. Bell will also likely be on Wood’s bag next week at the PGA Championship next weekend also. Woods has commented he has already received applicants to be his next caddie but is in no rush to get this sorted.
I for one will be happy to see Tiger back on the course and hope he is now fully healed from his injuries, he will see a friendly face on the tee Thursday and Friday as he will be playing with last months British Open winner Darren Clarke.
