Monday’s sports news was headlined by cricket news and the England’s cricket team emphatic win over India and they day was highlighted by a superb batting and bowling performance by Tim Bresnan.

The day began with England looking to increase there lead and they managed to do just that thanks to a sublime batting performance by Bresnan who scored 90 runs. Stuart Broad also scored 44 runs to continue his great test as England amassed a huge total of 544 which gave them a lead of 477 runs. If India were to reach that total they would set a new record, but that record would not be reached.

India were bowled out for just 158 runs on the same wicket that England had found so easy to bat on. Bresnan ended the second Innings with figures of 5-48 which was the pick of the England bowlers with Broad finishing on 2-30 and Anderson on 3-51. So far this series England have not allowed India to score more than 300 runs in a Inning, which surely must be worrying for the Indian coaches.

India will have some time now to asses there performance before the third test starts at Edgbaston on the 10th August. England will be looking to wrap up the series and the No 1 test team with a victory but many believe they have done enough already to deserve that title.

Moving onto NFL news and the news that free agent and veteran wide receiver Randy Moss has announced his retirement. Moss will call his career to a close after 153 TD’s in 13 NFL seasons. Moss who’s last season became a little bit of a circus but he undoubtedly still has the talent to perform and he may just come out of retirement should the right offer come along.

After missing out on Plaxico Burress the New York Giants ensured they re signed their top rusher from last season Ahmad Bradshaw. The deal is reported to be a four year deal with a rumour $42million deal with $18million guaranteed. However its not all good news for Giants fans as it is believed that Pro Bowl Defensive End Osi Umenyiora we be able to work out a trade to leave the Giants.
