Daily Sports News Stories – England Test Cricket, Football Transfer Rumours and NFL Transfer Rumours
The biggest cricket news this summer moved to Trent bridge in Nottingham with the second test beginning between England & India and the tourists perhaps got the better of the first day.
Trent Bridge is well known for being an exciting Test Match ground with a wicket which tends to be a lively one was just that. The Indian seamers didn’t waste their time in using the swinging conditions to their advantage. It took just 24 minutes before the tourists took their first wicket when Ishant Sharma trapped Alastair Cook LBW. Zaheer Khan’s replacement Sreesanth collected a wicket in his first over when he made Jonathan Trott edge a ball to second slip. The onslaught of wickets continued until tea when India had England 124-8 and it looked like England would struggle to make many more runs.
However man of the Moment Stuart Broad was England’s saviour with his 64 from just 66 balls after Tea to resurrect England’s Inning to more respectable 221 all out. It would now be up to England’s bowling attack to attempt to keep the game in check and they started in the best way possible. Anderson took the wicket of Abhinav Mukund in the first ball of the game leaving the opening batsmen red-faced with a golden duck. India would see out the rest of the day and finish on 24-1 at the close of play.
Both teams are still in the game and if the wicket can continue to produce the same quality throughout the test we will be in for some first class cricket.
Moving onto some football news now and Aston Villa have completed the signing of Charles N’Zogbia from Wigan for a fee believed to be in the region of £9 million. N’Zogbia will go to fill the void left by Ashley Young & Stewart Downing who left the club earlier in the summer. Staying with confirmed signings Ben Foster has joined West Brom from Black Country rivals Birmingham City. Foster who had a fantastic for City last Season will take the number 1 spot at the Hawthorns after Scott Carsons departure to Bursaspor.
Moving to transfer rumours now an the Arsenal Transfer rumours as there is a lot of rumours circling around the Emirates right now. It is believed Arsenal are in the market for Valencia’s Juan Mata & Everton’s Phil Jagielka and have now apparently set Barcelona a date of the 4th August to complete their chase of Cesc Fabregas. Lets hope for Arsenals sake the Fabregas matter can be solved otherwise it might be hanging over the team come the start of the season.
In more NFL news Chad Ochocinco has been traded to the New England Patriots for 2 draft picks from the Bengals and will no doubt be Tom Brady’s top target heading into the season. The move also helps them keep pace with their divisional rivals the New York Jets.
In a bizarre NFL rumour sources are reporting that despite Brett Favre claiming that he is retired his agent is apparently willing to listen to NFL teams who are willing to make an offer for the 41 year old veteran. I genuinely hope he stays retired as its time to let a young Quarterback get a chance rather than a veteran take his job.
And finally a look at last nights X Games 17 action and Jackson Strong of Austrailia won the Moto X best trick by landing the first ever competition front flip. In the Moto X Step up final Matt Buyten with a record breaking clearance of 37ft .
