Saturday brought about about day 2 of the second test between England and India with the battle for control of the test still finely in the balance. India looked to be on their way to a commanding total with a lead of 46 runs and 6 wickets in hand at 267-4. However Stuart Broad had other ideas when he took the 12th Hat trick by an Englishman in Test Cricket. Stuart Broad with his 3rd ball of the over got India captain MS Dhoni to play out side his off stump and edged a catch to the slips. With his next ball he trapped Harbhajan Singh LBW and then clean bowled Praveen Kumar to send the English fans crazy at his home ground.

The Stuart Broad hat trick set about a collapse by the Indian batting order and they were bowled out for 288 which gave India a lead of 67. Broads bowling spell was simply sensational with his spell of 16 balls collecting 5 wickets and costing zero runs to leave Broad with figures of 6-46.

After England had bowled out the tourists there were 10 overs left in the day which the English Batsmen would have to see out. England would finish the day on 24-1 after losing Alastair Cook to a leading edge. Day 2 belonged to Stuart Broad with his sensational bowling and he was Englands best player on Day 1 with the bat. The match is finely balanced and will very much depend on the England batting performance on Day 3 to see who has the best chance of winning the second test.
