Daily Sports News Headlines – Queens Club Tennis and Transfer Rumours
Saturday Mornings sporting headlines were filled withe the news of two britons being in the Aegon Championships at Queens club or as the competition is better known as simply Queens. Both British number 1 & Number 2 had reached the Semi Final with Murray receiving a walk over due to an injury to his opponent Cilic & British number 2 James Ward who defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 6-2 6-7(14-16) 6-4.
Today was semi finals day and Murray faced American Andy Roddick in the first Semi Final and Murray breezed through in straight sets 6-3 6-1 and the match took just 58 minutes. Murray was simply outstanding throughout the course of the match and will be seen as one of his best performances on grass for along time with his fans hoping he can keep the same performances when Wimbledon 2011 starts in just over a weeks time.
In the second Semi Final Britains number two James Ward couldn’t continue his amazing run at the championships and fell in straight sets to Jo Wilfred Tsonga 6-3 7-6 (9-7). This sets up Sundays final of Murray vs Tsonga where the home crowd will be firmly behind Murray hoping to see him claim his second Queens title.
Staying in England we will take a look at some of the transfer rumours that ar hitting the back pages. Perhaps the biggest news is the possible transfer of Aston Villa star player Ashley Young to Manchester United with a £16million deal having already been completed. It also looks as if Manchester United are in the market for Arsenal player Samir Nasri who has publicly said he is looking to move away from the London club but nothing concrete has been confirmed from either camp.
Liverpool are the other premier League team who are very active in this years transfer market and have already secured the services of England U21 player Jordan Henderson. They are also reported to be in the market for Arsenal’s Gael Clichy, Blackpool’s Charlie Adam & Birmingham’s Scott Dann it looks like King Kenny has recognised that Liverpool need a huge overhaul to get back into the Champions league elite.
The quest for to be the next Aston Villa manager is still rumbling on after Roberto Martinez decided to stay at Wigan for at least another season. It appears asif they have no changed their attentions to Everton manager David Moyes and Bolton Manager Owen Coyle.
