Daily Sports News headlines – All Sports Roundup
The Football rumour mill is really heating up and its not just the signings of players which is getting teams worked up.
We shall start in Manchester where it appears that City rivals United and City are fighting it out over the same player with the Chilean international the focus of there attentions. Over the past week City looked favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez but Manchester United have apparently beaten them to the Wingers signature. Sanchez who has been playing in Italy for Udinese last season scored 12 goals in 27 appearances and many are touting him as the next Cristiano Ronaldo. The 22 year old is expected to make a decision in the next 2 weeks but it looks like he will be plying his trade in the Premier League next season.
A mainstay of transfer rumour targets is Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero and this summers window is no exception with the Argentinian linked with Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus. Athletico Madrid have always denied that they would sell there star player but a fee in the region of £40million is rumoured to be the value they are looking for which may keep him at Athletico for another season.
Moving away from the transfer of players a big news headline is happening in the Midlands where bitter rivals Birmingham & Villa are at war over the Alex Mcleish saga. City are now accusing Villa of tapping up their manager and will be making a formal complaint about their conduct. Villa appear to be no nearer naming their new Manager which is worrying Villa fans that the press stories of Mcleish being their new man may not be far off the mark. Judging by fans reactions to the possible appointment Villa fans will be far from happy if Mcleish is given the job.
Moving away from the speculation England U21′s take on the Ukraine tonight in their second game of the group stages where a win will put them in a great position to qualify for the Semi Finals and be sure to check back for a review and analysis from the game.
As reported yesterday here on Real Sporting News the New York Yankees have put Derek Jeter onto the 15 day disabled list meaning his quest for 3000 hits will have to wait 15 days at least. Yankees short stop Jeter who suffered the Injury in the 5th inning of Monday nights game is now stuck on 2994 hits just 6 short of the milestone. On Tuesday the Yankees won the opening game of a 3 game series with the Rangers after a six run 2nd Inning which lead to the 12-4 win.
And finally Deshawn Stevenson of the Dallas Mavericks might have been celebrating a little too hard after their NBA finals. Late on Tuesday night he was arrested for being Drunk after not knowing where he was after being asked by a Police Officer. I cant see the League or the Mavs being to strict with Stevenson as he was doing no one any harm. Stevenson played a big Role in the Mavs Finals win by Averaging 7 points per game along with lockdown defence on Heat superstars James & Wade.
That wraps up another round up of stories on sporting events be sure to check back tomorrow for analysis of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals & the England U21 game against Ukraine.
