Daily Sports Headlines – UEFA Under 21 Championships

Wednesdays sporting action saw England take on the Ukraine in their second group game of the U21 Championships a game where England headed into the game as big favourites.

However the game was a lacklustre affair with both teams failing to get on the scoresheet with the game ending in what can only be described as a  nil nil bore draw. Both teams goalkeepers were the star performers of either team Anton Kanibolitsky twice denying Daniel Sturridge and England’s Frankie Fielding saving from Yevhan Konoplyanka & Roman Zozulya. However Englands best chance fell to Danny Welbeck who was found by a pinpoint pass from Sturridge but Welbeck could only find the stands from 10 yard out.

The game now leaves England needing to win their game against the Czech Republic on Sunday to guarantee qualification into the Semi Finals. Stuart Pierce’s men will have to perform a lot better in Sundays game otherwise they will be heading back to England earlier than expected.
