Daily Sporting news stories – Manchester United American Tour and Football Transfer Rumours

Well with the weekend fast approaching it is clear that we are going to be in for a real treat of the sporting variety, for the first time in a long time I have felt that the sports calendar is building again. With the ongoing MLB season and this weekends British Open in golf, if you couple that with the increasing football transfer rumours and teams such as Manchester United beginning their summer tours.
Well you get the idea we are covering the British Golf open from Royal Saint Georges with individual daily reports so be sure to check these out elsewhere on Real Sporting News, for now we will start our daily round up beginning with some other stories from sporting events.
In the world of football we have seen Manchester United make a successful star to their American campaign with a impressive 4-1 victory over New England Revolution, this was a game that saw Ashley Young make his first appearance in a Manchester United shirt. Young didn’t make the score sheet unfortunately and even Wayne Rooney could not make an impact and missed the best chance from the goalless first half. The second hand was a different story with Michael Owen producing a nice finish in order to start the scoring in the 51st minute, Michael Carrick played a part in both of United’s first goals and again turned provider to get Federico Macheda onto the score sheet. This was Macheda’s first goal since he has returned from a half season loan to Sampdoria.

As the second half progressed the American side were next to strike with Benny Feilhaber scoring from a deflected free kick, but only 5 minutes later Macheda managed to turn a cross from Rafael to put the score to 3-1. The final honour went to Park Ji-Sung who scored in the 81st minute capping of an impressive display of Manchester United’s quality squad, with all the competition for places upfront in the United team we are sure to have an exciting season ahead. Especially if United manage to get Wesley Sneijder to put pen to paper. This match seems to confirm that Danny Welbeck may not feature again for Manchester united this season, news has reached us that Bolton seem keen to gain the talents of the striker on some kind of loan deal with Utd.
Elsewhere in football we return to the more familiar world of football transfer news and rumours, Kenny Dalgleish confirmed today that they are closer to signing the Aston Villa Winger Stewart Downing after the two clubs have agreed a transfer fee, all that need to be completed now is the wingers medical and personal terms. Liverpool continue their active role in this weeks transfer news and look close to completing the signing of goalkeeper Alexander Doni from Roma, we will keep you posted on developments.
We also have to say a fond farewell to Patrick Viera who has announced his retirement as a player, however expect to see him again very soon in the stands at The City of Manchester Stadium because he has accepted a role as a football development executive with Manchester City.
Well that sums up today’s main sports headlines and news, make sure you check out our British Open reports starting today. We will also continue to provide the latest stories on sporting events from around the world at Real Sporting News, so see you tomorrow.
