Daily Sport News Update – NBA Playoff Finals

Lets begin our look back on the sporting news from Tuesday with the result from Game One of the NBA Playoffs where the Miami Heat took on the Dallas Mavericks.  The Heat took advantage of their home advantage with a 92-84 win which was in thanks to Lebron James & Dwanye Wade stepping up in the 4th quarter but Miami’s defensive performance for the whole 4 quarters played a major part of them winning the game. James was the Heats all round top performer and helped his team with a 24 point, 9 rebound performance. The win leaves Miami just 3 wins short of becoming the NBA champs. As mentioned in my preview of the NBA Finals if Dallas are to win this series they need Nowitzki’s supporting cast to step up. This was one thing that didn’t not occur last night with the Dallas bench only scoring 17 points between them, that total is their lowest in the post season so far. Another issue for the Mavericks was there star player Dirk Nowitzki tearing a tendon in his middle finger of his non shooting hand he will play in game two on Thursday but what effect will it have on his game. The Mavs are nowhere near being out of the competition but if they want to come away victorious they need to find away to stop Miami’s Big 3.
Staying with American sports and checking up with the MLB and Derek Jeter’s hit watch and in yesterdays game he managed hit number 2982 & 2983 in helping the Yankees to a 10-3 win against the Oakland Athletics. Jeter is now 17 hits short of reaching that legendary milestone of 3000 hits.
Moving to British hopes at the French Open and Andy Murray finished his 4th round match against Viktor Troicki a day after it had started. Andy Murray was facing the exit from the competition as he was 2 sets to love down. However Murray picked himself up out of the slump and pulled back to 2 sets all when play was stopped late on Monday evening. Murray then came back early Tuesday afternoon to complete his remarkable come back and won the 5th and final set and set up a quarter final with the unseeded Argentinian Juan Ignacio Chela.
Moving onto football even though the season has ended football it still continues to make headline news and this time it relates to the FIFA Presidency and the farce that it has become. Sepp Blatter was announced as the only candidate in Wednesdays election and the election will go ahead despite all the scandal surrounding footballs organising body. How much will these scandals hurt the reputation of the game, time will tell but one thing is for sure the English football association will not have an easy ride with Blatter at the helm for the next 4 years.
In other Football News Big Sam Allardyce is expected to make his return to football management on Wednesday after accepting the Managers position at West Ham United. I would like to say good luck to Big Sam and hopes he enjoys a successful return to football management after his shocking dismissal from Blackburn earlier this season.
Looking ahead to tonights action the Boston Bruins take on the Vancouver Cannucks to begin the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and be sure to check back tomorrow for a recap of the big story in the hockey world at Real Sporting News.
