After sun had set on another superb Wimbledon tournament the sporting Calendar was looking a bit bare until the British Open golf tournament which starts on the 14th July. So in todays article we will take a look at the latest football news & football rumours and some sport news stories from across the pond.

The biggest football News in the world of football is the news coming out of Man City regarding their captain Carlos Tevez. Tevez has released a statement saying that he wants to leave the club this summer as he wants to be closer to his daughters who live in his homeland Argentina. This would mean that a move to Argentina or a south American team would appear to be on the cards for Tevez however it looks as if a move to Italy will be more likely. In my opinion it looks as if Tevez’s agent is giving him the information so he can force a move and make some money from the signing fee. There is no doubt the Carlos Tevez transfer saga will run and run throughout the summer.

In a positive for Man City they have clinched the signing of Arsenal left back Gael Clichy on a deal rumoured to be in the region of £7million and I expect many more signings from the Manchester club as they assemble a squad to compete in the Champions league.

As for Arsenal transfer rumours they have 2 other transfer sagas raging on concerning their 2 star midfielders Samir Nasri & Cesc Fabregas. Nasri who is the target of both Man City & Man Utd appears to be allowed to leave the club but Arsenal are wanting to sell to a foreign club rather than one of their premier league rivals.

The Fabregas saga has been drawn out for a couple of years and bears a resemblance to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga of a couple of years ago. Fabregas has been chased by Barcelona for a number of years and now appears to have battered Arsenal into submission with a move looking likely to be done before the Summer is over. A deal in the region of £40million appears to have been struck and Fabregas has met with Arsene Wenger to discuss the move.

Moving away from the football news and going stateside for some baseball news and for the New York Yankees they welcomed back Derek Jeter from his spell on the disabled list. However his return was greeted with a 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians who won thanks to a 3 run Home run by Austin Kearns in the 7th inning. The Indians will also thank a stellar pitching effort from their starting pitcher Josh Tomlin holding a no Hit bid into the 7th Inning.

Jeter went 0 for 4 in the game and will have to wait a little bit longer to move closer to the 3000 hit milestone.

In our final news headline of the day Tiger Woods has officially ruled himself out of the 2011 British Open as he is giving his injuries extra time to heal.
