Daily Sport News Round up – Champions League Final
Here is your round up of Saturday’s sporting event stories and well start at perhaps the biggest headline news story of the day. The Champions League final at Wembley where Barcelona showed they are the best club team in the world with an awe inspiring 3-1 win over Manchester United. Barcelona dominated the game from the beginning to the end and Manchester United could never get a foothold in the game. Barcelona’s dominance in the game was proven in the stat lines they controlled 68% of the possession and out shot Manchester United 16 to 3 showing how much control they had on this game. The game began with Manchester United starting strongly but it wasn’t long before Barcelona took control with their passing game and opened the scoring with a slotted finish from Pedro from a slick passing move. Manchester United’s equaliser came from an equally slick passing move and a Sublime Finish from Wayne Rooney leaving the two teams level at half time. In the second half Barcelona turned on the style with two fantastic finishes from Lionel Messi & David Villa and never gave Manchester United a chance. A touching end to the game where Eric Abidal lifted the famous trophy after only just having Life saving surgery on a tumour on his liver. This game drew an end to another Champions League season and will leave many of the top Europen teams asking how can we beat Barcelona?

Moving away from football the Great British Summer weather is looking more and more likely to bring the first game of the England Sri Lanka test to a draw. The rain shortened the games play but it didn’t stop two great individual performances from Alistair Cook & Jonathan Trott who both ended up getting over the century mark. The weather though will hamper any hopes of the game going to a victory as the weather forecast is looking bleak for the rest of the last two days of the test match.
In Tennis Novak Djokovic took his unbeaten run to 42 matches with a 4 set victory over Juan Martin del Potro and will now face Richard Gasquet in the 4th Round. British tennis hopes will keep on burning as the World number 4 Andy Murray dispatched Michael Berrer in straight sets to progress to the 4th round where he will face Serbian Viktor Troicki. The match did have some drama when Murray rolled his ankle chasing down a drop shot in the second set, however murray battled through for the victory.
