College Football

The quest for the National Championship College Football 2012 started this weekend as the College football season kicked off. The 2012 College football season kicked off with a bang and already teams in the top 25 were upset by teams not in the top 25 college football rankings.

The biggest upset in the College football scores happened in South Bend where 16 ranked Notre Dame were upset at home to the South Florida Bulls. In a game hampered by electrical storms with the game being stopped twice due to lightning strikes in the area. The Bulls lead 16 – 0 at half time and won the game 23 -20 after a second half rally from the Fighting Irish but it wasn’t enough.

College Football – The First Upset

In another College football upset 14th ranked TCU lost a shoot out to unranked Baylor 48-50 and Baylor will be thanking Quarter Back Robert Griffin III who threw 5 touchdowns on the way to their victory. Coming into the game TCU held an FBS best 25 consecutive wins but this was halted by the Baylor and the Horned frogs of TCU will have to start a win streak again.

The Oregon Ducks who have the best College football jerseys took the field for the first time since their defeat in the National Championship college football. Oregon who were ranked 3rd in the preseason College football rankings could not get back to wining ways as they lost 40-27 against LSU. It is rare that 2 top 25 teams meet in the opening weekend of College football and even rarer 2 teams in the top 5, and fortunately for LSU they have a big win on their resume early in the season.

In other College football results the number 1 ranked Oklahoma defeated Tulsa 47-14 at the Oklahoma Memorial stadium. Last years National Championship winners Auburn started their College football season off with a 42 – 38 win over Utah State. The game was Auburns first game without their starting Quarterback Cam Newton who went number 1 in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Other College football teams recorded impressive wins with 6th ranked Florida State shutting out LA-Monroe  34-0 and Ohio State shutting out Akron 42-0 at Ohio Stadium in their first game since Coach Tressel left the team.
