So you might of noticed there was some pretty interesting Champions League results last night, there were a total of 10 games played and if you read our match preview last night you will know the importance of some of these games. From a British football perspective there were 2 very big UEFA Champions League results last night, both of these games involved the top 2 teams from the English Premier League and from the same home city. These teams were of course Manchester United and Manchester City, both teams hade experienced poor Champions League results so far with both teams looking for their first win.
So then lets get on with the latest Champions League results today, we start with the Manchester City game at the Ethiad Stadium in Manchester. City’s opponents were Villarreal and the game was set up to be a tight encounter, the game started with more disappointment for City with Villarreal scoring after just 4 minutes when Cani opened the scoring. The game continued to be a tense affair for City for most of the first half, then City got an equaliser but not from their own player Carlos Marchena put the ball in his own net in the 43rd minute. City failed to find a winning combination of players in to the second half even after Manchini made some substitutions, and as a result no further goals were scored during regular time. Then in a great footballing move in the 93rd minute Sergio Aguero poked in a goal from literally 2 yards out, needless to say the Ethiad stadium turned into delirium by confirming the first win for Manchester City in the champions league. Man City will now look to build on this win in future Champions League Results to qualify for the knock out stages. In other Champions League results in this group due to Bayern Munich and Napoli Drawing 1-1 Man City are just one point off second place.
In other Champions league results today we saw Manchester United Meet with Otelul Galati, it was essential for United to get their first win tonight as another draw would see either Basel or Benfica build a sizable lead at the top of their group. Well United left it until the 2nd half to score when Wayne Rooney converted from the penalty spot, then 3 minutes later Nemanja Vidic received a red card for a tackle many felt should only have been yellow. Fortunately for Man United they held onto their league and controlled the game then in the 90th minute Milan Perendija also saw red for a second bookable offence. Wayne Rooney then converted another penalty in the 90th minute, this win for United instantly improve the look of their Champions League Results.
