As always with the beginning of a 2012 Formula 1 season there are new rules and different requirements for the cars. So lets get you caught up on the 2012 Formula 1 results which have happened so far this year.

2012 Australian GP Race Results – 2012 Formula 1

The curtain raiser for this years 2012 Formula One season came from the Albert Park track in Adelaide for the Australian GP. It emerged after qualifying that this could be a positive race weekend for McLaren who had both of their drivers sitting on the front of the grid. Lewis Hamilton took pole position and was 0.152 seconds faster than his team mate Jenson Button who sat behind him on the grid. Last years Formula 1 champion Sebatian Vettelwas 6th on the grid with fellow Red Bull team mate Mark Webber 1 place ahead in 5th.

The race itself however would be won by a member of the McLaren team and that would fall to Jenson Button who won the 2012 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix with a race time of 1:34:09.565. The podium places would see Sebastian Vettel finish second just over 2 seconds behind Button with Hamilton in third.

2012 Formula 1 – 2012 Malaysian GP Race Results

The latest 2012 Formula 1 result came from the Malaysian Grand Prix from Sepang and the qualification yet again saw McLaren dominant in qualification. With yet again Lewis Hamilton in Pole position ahead of team mate Jenson Button but the conditions from qualifying to race day would mean that strategy would win the race.

A huge deluge of rain caused many teams to alter their strategy and allowed an uncompetitive Ferrari to take the victory with Fernando Alonso onto of the podium. There was a huge surprise in 2nd place with Mexican driver Sergio Perez finishing second ahead of Lewis Hamilton who finished 3rd. For Sergio Perez & the Sauber Racing team it was an emotional day as they claimed their first podium position.

So after 2 races Fernando Alonso sits atop of the 2012 Formula 1 standings with 35 points which is 5 points ahead of Hamilton who is on 30 points.

London 2012 Olympics – Olympic Park Venues

London 2012 OlympicsAs we all know the London 2012 Olympics are almost upon us and the athletes will compete at a range of purpose built venues across the UK. Some of these venues form what is known as the Olympic Park, let me guide you through these venues so we can plan for what lies ahead.

London 2012 Olympics – What a great Centre piece

First up in our review of the venues for the London 2012 Olympics we have the centerpiece venue, this is the Olympic Stadium which will play host to the athletics events. In total 208 events will be held in the Olympic Stadium which is one of the most sustainable stadiums of it’s size ever built and has taken nearly 3 years to complete. 80,000 spectators will watch the events of the London 2012 Olympics from within this stadium, it will be an amazing spectacle.

Next up in the London 2012 Olympics venues is the Velodrome which will host the Track Cycling events during the games. This venue will host 28 events and will become a permanent centre or excellence for cycling after the games ends.

Our next venue for the London 2012 Olympics is the Aquatics centre which will play host to 192 events. What a treat of events they are we will see Swimming, Diving, Modern Pentathlon and Synchronised Swimming events.

For our Fourth venue at the London 2012 Olympics we find the rather unusual Copper Box venue. Just 6 Events will take place in the Copper Box and it will remain as a permanent venue following the end of the games. Handball, Fencing and Modern Pentathlon will provide the highlights at this venue.

London 2012 Olympics – Temporary Venues

The Basketball arena will play host to a number of events at the London 2012 Olympics, these events will include the finals of the Handball competition. Surprisingly even though this venue is quite large it is a temporary structure which will be dismantled after the games ends.

One of the most exciting venues is the relatively small BMX track which hosts the 400 meter specialist track, so far the track has already played host to the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup and will form part of a New Velo Park following the games.

The remaining 3 London 2012 Olympic venues are quite specialist in their function such as Eton Park which will be used for Wheelchair Tennis in the Paralympics. Then there is the Riverbank arena which will be the home of Hockey during the 2012 London Olympics and then the Water Polo arena which is a temporary venue that will house the Water Polo events.

One thing that is for sure is that the London 2012 Olympics is set to be a magnificent games to be enjoyed by the whole of the world. We will be covering all the headlines from the London 2012 Olympics right here on Real Sporting news.
