The Red Wings held the best record in the NHL heading into the game and they added another win to their 2012 NHL Scores to extend their winning streak at home to 23. Detroit defeated the Sharks 3-2 thanks to goals from Henrik Zetterberg, Drew Miller & Darren Helm. The Red Wings held on to win their 6th straight game to ensure they maintain the NHL best record of 41-17 with 84 points.

The Red Wings hold the best record in the NHL & Western Conference and in the Eastern conference the New York Rangers who faced the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in another of the days NHL Scores.

The game would be decided in overtime after the scores were tied at 2-2 thanks to a late game tying goal from Rick Nash. Overtime did not last long as Derek Stepan score the game winning goal after just 22 seconds with assists from Michael Del Zotto & Marian Gaborik.

The Rangers now have a record of 38-14 with 81 points which sees them at the top of the NHL Eastern Conference Standings.

In more NHL Scores 2012 the Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller shut out the Florida Panthers in a 2 nil victory. The Ducks goaltender stopped 31 shots to give them the victory, however that wasn’t the best performance by a goaltender on Sunday.

NHL Scores 2012 – Backstrom saves 48

That honour fell to the Minnesota Wild’s goal tender Niklas Backstrom who stopped a staggering 48 shots in a career best performance as they defeated the boston Bruin 2-0.

In more NHL Scores the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 whilst the Blackhawks defeated the St Louis Blues 3-1.

In the remaining Sunday NHL Scores saw the New Jersey Devils, Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets & Vancouver Canucks all pick up wins.

2012 Australian OpenThe 2012 Australian Open tennis tournament is drawing into its final stages as the 2012 Australian Open Mens Quarter finals took place. 2 of the games took place today with the other 2 games taking place tomorrow.

The first of the 2012 Australian Open quarter finals saw former World number 1 Roger Federer take on Martin Del Potro. Federer made short work of his opponent and defeated his opponent in just under 2 hours 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 to reach to 2012 Australian Open Semi Final.

Federer would have to wait and see who he would face in his Semi Final at the 2012 Australian Open as World Number 2 Rafa Nadal took on Tomas Berdych in the days 2nd Quarter final.

However it was not plain sailing for the Spaniard who lost the opening set in a tie break and he could have fell 2 sets back if Berdych would have took an opportunity at set point.

Nadal would bounce back and win the match 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 6-3 in a game which took 4 hours and 16 minutes to complete. Nadal will have expelled much more energy than he would have wanted especially after his Semi Final opponent breezed through his 2012 Australian Open quarter final.

Tomorrows 2012 Australian Open Quarter finals see Andy Murray take on Japans Nishikori & World number 1 Novak Djokovic take on David Ferrer for their place in the Semi Finals.

2012 Australian Open – Women’s Quarter Finals

Moving now into the 2012 Australian Open Womens Quarter finals where reigning Champion Kim Clijsters defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 7-6 (7-4). The win for the Belgian sets up a 2012 Australian open Semi Final with Victoria Azarenka.

In the days other Women’s quarter final saw Azarenka defeat her Polish counterpart Agnieszka Radwanska in 3 sets 6-7 (0-7) 6-0 6-2.

Tomorrow sees Maria Sharapova take on Russia’s Makarova & Wimbledon Champions Kvitova take on Itlay’s Errani for their place in the 2012 Australian Open Semi Final.

The NCAA College Football season moves into week 12 and edging ever so close to bowl season. We begin our College Football preview with a look at last nights game which had huge implications on this weekends action and the BCS rankings.

So our College football preview begins with Oklahoma State who were ranked number 2 in the College Football rankings going into there match up with Iowa State. Iowa State would hand Oklahoma State there first loss of the season to send the college football season into chaos. It would take 2 Overtimes to separate the two Big 12 teams at 37-31 in favour of Iowa State. The decisive play for Iowa came when Jeff Woody completed a 4 yard run for the big college football score.

With that big upset our College football preview carries an extra weight for teams ranked 3,4 or 5 in the BCS Rankings. For number 3 ranked Alabama they are perhaps the most likely candidate to slot back into the number 2 slot. They have a home match up against Georgia South who like Alabama have a 9-1 record for the season. A big win for Alabama will defiantly give them a good shot at taking the number 2 spot and a chance to play for National championship come January.

4th ranked Oregon will also have a case with a win over Pac 10 rivals USC on Saturday evening. Oregon who also hold a 9-1 record for the season picked up a big win last weekend over the undefeated Stanford and a further win today will have Ducks fans claiming they should be bumped to the number 2 spot in the College football rankings.

Moving on to the 5th ranked Oklahoma in our College Football Preview who were the preseason number 1 in the rankings will make a strong case if they can defeat 22nd ranked Baylor in Waco Texas. A dominate win over another ranked opponent will do their National Championship bid a huge boost.

What ever happens on Saturday will no doubt see many twists and turns and their will be more changes across the season.

College football Preview – Upset Alert

We now look at potential upsets in our College football Preview and look at teams who are potentially on upset alert. After the past couple of weeks at Penn State it would be much of a Surprise if they lost to Ohio State at the Ohio Stadium. 13th ranked Kansas State will face a tough opponent when they face 23rd ranked Texas.

Our Final team we look at in our College Football Preview is Number 1 Ranked LSU who face off against Ole Miss in what should be an easy victory for the top ranked team in the country.

College Football Scores 2011 Week 11

College Football ScoresAs we move into the closing stages of the 2011 College football season every College football scores matter as teams battle to get themselves into a Bowl game.

We begin our College Football Scores Week 11 recap with this weeks biggest upset as a member of the College Football Rankings top 5 lost to an unranked opponent.

The loss occurred on the Blue turf at Boise State’s Bronco Stadium where Unranked TCU defeated 5th ranked Boise State 36-35. TCU took the lead in the final 2 minutes when Brandon Carter hit Casey Pachall for the 25 yard touchdown and then made a successful 2 point conversion.

It left 1:05 minutes on the clock for Boise to win the game and Kellen Moore got his team into Field Goal range. However for the 2nd time in 2 year Boise would lose their undefeated record on a missed Field goal. The loss for Boise State will mean that they will miss out on a BCS bowl bid for a second consecutive year.

In other Current College Football scores there was other top 5 team who lost their undefeated status and that fell to Andrew Luck’s Stanford team. In a Pac 12 match up Oregon & Stanford went head to head at Stanford stadium with the visitors coming out on top 53-30 in a relatively straight forward victory. LaMichael James ran for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns in a win which will see a big shake up in this weeks BCS Bowl Rankings.

College Football Scores – LSU Continue to roll

For the other 3 top 5 teams they had a more comfortable set of College football scores with number 1 ranked LSU defeating Western Kentucky 42-9. Number 2 ranked Oklahoma State defeated Texas Tech in an emphatic 66-6 win and 3rd ranked Alabama bounced back from last weeks loss with a 34-7 Mississippi State.

In other College Football Scores Penn State’s rough week continued as they lost 17-14 at home in their first game without long term head coach Joe Paterno who left earlier this week amidst the Penn State Scandal.

College Football Scores Week 10 2011

College Football scoresThe weeks College football scores featured one of the most hotly anticipated games of the college football season where the 2 top teams in the College football rankings went head to head. We will begin our College football scores week 10 review in Tuscaloosa Alabama.

The match between number 1 LSU & number 2 ranked Alabama had been on the lips of College football fans everywhere, with some fans paying in excess of $500 for the College football tickets to see the game. The game itself turned into a battle of the 2 defences and a game of field goals with neither team able to score a touchdown.

The score at the end of regulation was 6-6 heading into overtime but LSU got the victory after kicking a field goal to win the match 9-6 to give them the upper hand and a likely  shot at the National Championship in January.

Alabama will rue 4 missed field goals & a goal line interception but LSU found a way to win the biggest game of their season so far.

College Football Scores – Top 5 results

In other NCAA College football scores 3rd ranked Oklahoma State picked up their 9th win of the season and remained undefeated enchanting their chances of a National title. Oklahoma State defeated 14th ranked Kansas State 52-45 behind quarterback Brandon Weeden’s school record 502 yards. Oklahoma State are tipped to go into 2nd spot in the College football rankings after Alabama’s loss.

In other College football scores concerning the College football top 5 4th ranked Stanford overcame Oregon State 38-13 thanks to Andrew Luck’s 3 touchdowns and 5th ranked Boise State defeated UNLV 48-21 in Las Vegas.

There were a couple of upsets in this weeks college football scores with 10th ranked Nebraska, 15th ranked Michigan, 19th ranked Arizona State & 24th ranked West Virginia all lost to unranked opponents.
