Monday’s sports news was headlined by cricket news and the England’s cricket team emphatic win over India and they day was highlighted by a superb batting and bowling performance by Tim Bresnan.

The day began with England looking to increase there lead and they managed to do just that thanks to a sublime batting performance by Bresnan who scored 90 runs. Stuart Broad also scored 44 runs to continue his great test as England amassed a huge total of 544 which gave them a lead of 477 runs. Sunday was the beginning of Day 3 of the second test between India & England and England started the day trailing the tourists first innings score by 43 runs. In what was a great day for the England batters might well be remembered for an interesting piece of sportsmanship from the Indian captain.

The situation in question is in relation to a run out for Ian Bell just before Tea where Ian Bell was run out after thinking Eoin Morgan had hit a boundary on the last ball of the over. Saturday brought about about day 2 of the second test between England and India with the battle for control of the test still finely in the balance. India looked to be on their way to a commanding total with a lead of 46 runs and 6 wickets in hand at 267-4. However Stuart Broad had other ideas when he took the 12th Hat trick by an Englishman in Test Cricket. Stuart Broad with his 3rd ball of the over got India captain MS Dhoni to play out side his off stump and edged a catch to the slips. With his next ball he trapped Harbhajan Singh LBW and then clean bowled Praveen Kumar to send the English fans crazy at his home ground.

The Stuart Broad hat trick set about a collapse by the Indian batting order and they were bowled out for 288 which gave India a lead of 67. Broads bowling spell was simply sensational with his spell of 16 balls collecting 5 wickets and costing zero runs to leave Broad with figures of 6-46. Read more…

The biggest cricket news this summer moved to Trent bridge in Nottingham with the second test beginning between England & India and the tourists perhaps got the better of the first day.
