2012 NBA Playoffs Game 2 Celtics @ Heat

After seeing the Spurs take a 2-0 lead over the Thunder on Tuesday night there was only one thing on Miami Heat’s teams mind and that was to take there own 2-0 lead in the 2012 NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals.

With the Heat playing infront of a sold out American Airlines arena they knew a home loss would be disastrous in the process of them getting back to the 2012 NBA Finals.

Heat look to take 2-0 advantage against the Celtics – 2012 NBA Playoffs

At the Half the Heat were trailing by 7 points with the scores at 53-46 and Rajon Rondo running the floor for the Boston Celtics, but a half time team talk from coach Eric Spoelstra burst the Heat back to life with the heat Outscoring the Celtics 35-22 and lead the game 81 – 75 at the end of the 3rd quarter sending the home fans wild. However Boston would make their own comeback in the 4th quarter outscoring the Heat by 6 points to tie the game at 99-99 to end the 4th quarter meaning that overtime would be needed.

After a back & forward period of overtime it would be the home fans going home happy as the Heat won the game 115-111 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead as the series heads to Boston.

Rondos 44 points not enough for Boston – 2012 NBA Playoffs

The leagues reigning MVP Lebron James showed why he was named that with an awesome performance scoring 34 points, grabbing 10 rebounds with 7 assists thrown in. However the best player on the night was Boston’s Rajon Rondo who earlier in the season had rumours that he would be traded from the Celtics scored 44 points, 10 assists & 8 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Celtics face the same problem in game 3 as the Thunder they cannot lose either of their 2 home games otherwise they face elimination from the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Western Conference Final Game 2 – Thunder at Spurs

After Monday night when the Miami Heat made a dominant win over the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals with the 93-79 victory in Game 1. Tuesday night was Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals with the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Western Conference Finals – Thunder at Spurs

Game 2 is the second of the best of seven series and took place in San Antonio and the Thunder were looking to level the series after blowing a 9 point lead in Game 1. However the Spurs were on there game making sure they kept their home court advantage and wanted to take a 2 game lead before heading to Oklahoma.

Game 2 of the 2012 Western Conference Finals played out completely differently than the series opener with the Spurs dominating from the first tip. The Spurs opened up a 6 point lead in the first quarter & then extend that lead to 11 points with a score line of 55 – 44 at halftime.

The 3rd quarter didn’t get much better for the Thunder as they trailed by 16 at the end of the 3rd, a minor rally in the 4th closed the gap on the Spurs but they couldn’t get close as the Spurs won 120-111. With the win the spurs take a 2-0 series lead & also broke an NBA record with their 20th consecutive win bridging the regular season & the playoffs.

If the Thunder are to get anything out of the series they must find a way to stop veteran point guard Tony Parker who scored 34 points with 8 assist & 3 rebounds.

For the Thunder its back to the drawing board as they try to get a victory in the western conference finals. They had big performance from their star players with kevin Durrant scoring 31 & Westbrook scoring 27, a key for the thunder will be trying to stop Parker.

The Thunder have until Thursday to think of a new game plan as Game 3 tips off at 9pm Eastern from the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Tonights NBA Playoff action comes from Miami as the Heat welcome the boston Celtics back to South Beach for Game 2 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals.


2012 NBA Playoffs – Thunder @ Spurs Game 1

The 2012 NBA Playoffs moved into the conference final stages on Sunday with the matchup in the West opening the conference finals. The match up in the Western Conference finals sees the 2 teams who topped the 2012 NBA Standings in the Western Conference San Antonio & Oklahoma City go head to head in the best of 7 series.

2012 NBA Playoffs – Spurs rally to beat the Thunder

San Antonio carry the home court advantage in the series after finishing on top in the playoff rankings and got there series under way in a packed out AT&T Center in San Antonio Texas.

The Spurs jumped out to an early 1st quarter lead by out scoring the Thunder 24-18 to keep the home crowd loud but the Thunder would roar back in the second quarter out scoring the Spurs 29-22 to take a slender 47-46 lead at the half time break.

In the 3rd quarter the Thunder would extend that lead to 9 points as the third quarter ended and silencing the noisy home crowd. However that lead would not prove to be enough as the Spurs produced a huge 4th quarter rally to defeat the Thunder 101-98 to send the home fans happy.

The 4th quarter revival from the Spurs was thanks mainly to a rousing speech from NBA’s Coach of the year Gregg Popovich telling his team to get “nasty” & it certainly worked as his team rallied back from a 9 point deficit and took a 1-0 series lead in the 2012 NBA Playoffs Western Conference finals

The Spurs secured their 19th straight victory throughout the regular season & the Playoffs equalling an NBA record for the longest streak kept alive during the Playoffs.

Celtics @ Sixers Game 6 – 2012 NBA Playoffs

The Celtics @ Sixers was the only game on the 2012 NBA Playoffs Schedule for Wednesday night with the NBA Playoff Picture in the West had already been decided upon.

Celtics @ Sixers Game 6 – Sixers Force Game 7

The Boston Celtics were leading the series 3-2 with Game 6 taking place in Philadelphia against the 76ers knowing a win would send them to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Celtics had 3 point lead at the half but after the half time break the 76ers turned up the style and defeated the Celtics 82-75 and sending the best of 7 series to a Game 7. Jrue Holiday was the key man for the sixes scoring  20 points & dishing out 6 assists with big man Elton Brand grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 13 points. The Celtics had a big game from veteran Paul Pierce who scored a double double with 24 points & 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough for the Celtics who now head back to Boston.

For the Sixers seeded 8th have already knocked out the top seeded Bulls are hoping to add another scalp to there impressive resume this offseason by defeating the Celtics.

Game 7 of the series will take place at the TD Garden with the Celtics hoping home court advantage will play its part, the final game in this intriguing series takes place on Saturday.

In tonights 2012 NBA Playoffs game sees another home team looking to force a Game 7 with a win as the Indiana Pacers welcome the Miami Heat to Indiana. For the Heat a win will provide them with an extra days rest ahead of the Finals but for the Pacers a loss will see an early end to their season.

2012 NBA Playoffs Game 5 Pacers @ Heat

With just 1 game being played on Tuesday Night in the 2012 NBA Playoffs due to the Western Conference Finals competitors already sorted it was just the game from the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

The matchup in the Western Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs 2012 will see the San Antonio Spurs face the Oklahoma City Thunder the 2 teams who were ranked 1 & 2 in the NBA Playoff standings in the West when the regular season ended. Game 1 of this match up will be played on Sunday with a tip off of 8.30 Eastern Time from San Antonio.

Heat take 3-2 series lead – NBA Playoffs 2012

Moving onto the game on Tuesday taking place between the highest seed in the East the Miami Heat taking on the Indiana Pacers. After 4 games of the series it is tied a 2-2 with it all to play for and Game 5 was heading back to Miami and the American Airlines Arena. Both teams knew that a win on Tuesday night would see them move within 1 win of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Heat wasted no time in racing out to a 9 point half time lead leading the pacer 49-40 at the half & the second half got no easier for the Pacers as the Heat handed them a 115-83 loss after being over powered in the second half. The Heat had a big night from its 2 NBA All Stars with the Leagues MVP Lebron James just 2 assists short of a triple double. James figures ended with 30 points, 10 rebounds & 8 assists & Dwyane Wade backed up with 28 points.

For the Indiana Pacers who were already pretty much banged up saw Danny Granger & David West exit the game with injuries which will make Game 6 all the more difficult for the Pacers.

Game 6 takes place on Thursday and a win for the Miami Heat will see them continue there quest for the NBA Finals in the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Another Game 6 takes place in tonights playoff game with the Boston Celtics taking on the Philadelphia 76ers where a win for Boston will see them take there spot in the Eastern Conference Finals.


NBA Playoffs Semi Finals 2012

The NBA Playoffs Semi finals are drawing to a close with 1 spot already decided in the Western conference finals but all is still up for grabs in the East. Mondays NBA Playoffs saw an elimination game in the West whilst in the East with the series tied both teams look to take control.

NBA Playoffs – Thunder advance to the West Finals

The Oklahoma City Thunder took the series back to Oklahoma with a 3-1 lead and the opportunity to knock out the LA Lakers and with a dominant performance they did just that. The Thunder defeated the Lakers 106-90 to claim there second straight appearance in the Western Conference Finals where they will face the San Antonio Spurs.

The Thunder got a huge night from their 2 star players with Durrant & Westbrook delivering yet again as they did all season & in the Playoffs. Durrant scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds & 4 assists whilst Westbrook scored 28 points with 3 rebounds & 4 assists.

For the Lakers Kobe Bryant scoring 42 points was not enough to see the Lakers season extended as another Playoff dream for the Lakers ends early.

Celtics take advantage with a 3-2 Series lead – NBA Playoffs

In the Eastern Conference Semi Finals the Celtics & Sixers were tied at 2-2 games apiece heading into Game 5 and home court advantage paid dividends as Boston defeated Philly at the TD Garden 101-85. With the win Boston take a 3-2 series lead and leave the 76ers on the brink of elimination from the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Brandon Bass was the star man for the Celtics by stepping with 27 points and 6 rebounds.

Game 6 takes place on Wednesday in Philadelphia where the Celtics will look to claim a spot in 2012 Eastern Conference Finals.
