Carling Cup Results – 4th Round

The Carling Cup moved into the 4th round with the pick of the Carling Cup Draw being League 2 Aldershot facing off against Premier league Champions Man Utd at the Recreation Ground.

Man Utd were looking to bounce back from their humiliating 6-1 defeat against Man City whilst Aldershot were looking to get one of the Surprise Carling Cup results of the season.

However the hopes of a shock upset were dashed when Utd took the lead through Dimitar Berbatov after 15 minutes and Man Utd doubled their advantage just before half time with a goal from Michael Owen. 3 minutes after the restart Antonio Valencia put the game beyond doubt and United would win the game 3-0.

Even though the result was against lowly opposition it will have helped eradicate some of Sunday loss at the hands of City.

In other Carling Cup 2011 results Arsenal would advance to the next round after defeating fellow Premier League rivals Bolton at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal had to come from behind to advance to the quarter finals after Fabrice Muamba opened the scoring for Bolton after 47 minutes.

Boltons lead was short-lived as Ardrei Arshavin would level the scores just 5 minutes later after slotting a angled shot in the corner of the net. Arsenal would then score the winner 3 minutes later after Park Chu-Young scored a curling effort to win the game for the Gunners 2-1.

Carling Cup – 2 all Championship ties

The other 2 Carling Cup Results featured all Championship teams and in the first game Cardiff defeated Burnley 1 nil after 40th minute goal from Joe Mason. The goal was a moment of quality from the Cardiff youngster who they signed for £250’000 in the Summer from Plymouth.

The final Carling Cup Result featured Championship table toppers Southampton faced off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The home team would advance to the Carling Cup quarter final after winning 2-0 behind a Darren Ambrose strike and a Jermaine Easter Penalty.
