Australian Open Golf 2011 Preview

Australian OpenThe Australian Open Golf tournament tees off tomorrow at the The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney. The Emirates Australian Open will start tomorrow on the 10th November and will play its final round on Sunday 13th November.

The Australian Open 2011 will feature some of the Worlds top golfers Including Tiger Woods & Adam Scott who returns back to Australia his home country. There has been some extra spice added to this years Australian Open 2011 thanks to Steve Williams Tiger Wood’s former caddy.

At an awards evening last weekend Williams made a negative comment about his former employer Woods after claiming an award. Williams who now caddies for Adam Scott after leaving Woods after his sex affair scandal. Meaning their may be a few awkward moments in the club house when the 2 cross paths.

Woods himself will have a new caddy at his side at the Australian Open as Joe Lacava who was previously Dustin Johnson’s caddy will be on Woods bag for the weekend.

The tournament features a field of predominately of Australians and players from Asian countries but there are a handful of Americans who are in the country ahead of the 2011 Presidents cup.

Australian Open – A brief History

Last years Australian Open golf winner was Geoff Ogilvy who will be looking to repeat a tournament victory on home soil. The tournament has ran since 1904 with the most successful player is Gary Player who won the title 7 times in his career.

My tip to win this weekend event is Australian Adam Scott who has been playing incredibly well since Williams became his Caddy and expected him to lift the title for 2nd time. However it is impossible to rule out Tiger Woods who if he finds his form will be hard for any player to cope with.
