2011 Presidents Cup Golf Tournament – Day 2

The 2011 Presidents Cup Golf tournament moved into day 2 and the first set of fourballs of the weekend. After Tiger Woods lost yesterday with Steve Stricker he was paired with Dustin Johnson for day 2 at the windy Royal Melbourne Golf Course.

However the change in partner did not change Tiger’s fortunes as he lost for the second consecutive day. This time he was up against Jason Day & Aaron Baddeley who took the point on the 18th hole. Woods who is still looking for his first point of the 2011 Presidents Cup golf tournament will play against his former caddie again tomorrow as he and Dustin Johnson face Scott & Choi in the morning fourballs.

In other 2011 Presidents Cup Pairings from Webb Simpson & Bubba Watson defeated Ernie Els & Ryo Ishikawa 3 & 1 with Mickleson & Furyk also picking up Presidents Cup Points with a 2&1 win over Scott & Kim in the 2011 Presidents Cup golf tournament.

The other win for the US team in the 2011 Presidents Cup golf tournament came in the 5th match between Matt Kuchar & Steve Stricker against Robert Allenby & YE Yang. The Americans won the match easily with the  4&3 score reflecting their dominance.

However the other 2 match ups at the 2011 Presidents Cup golf tournament went well for Greg Norman’s International team with them picking cup 2 valuable Presidents Cup Points. Charl Schwartzel & Retief Goosen defeated Hunter Mahan & David Toms in a closely fought contest to win 2&1. In the other match up  KJ Choi & Geoff Ogilvy won the match on the 18th hole against Bill Haas & Nick Watney to win 1 up.

On the 2nd day of the 2011 Presidents Cup golf tournament the day was tied 3-3 with the Americans leading the Presidents Cup standings 7-5 overall. With tomorrow mornings foursomes and the afternoons fourballs it is still all to play for.
