2011 Emirates Australian Open – Final Round
The 2011 Emirates Australian Open golf tournament finished in exciting style at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney Australia. The final day finished the same as the previous 3 days with a new player atop of the Australian Open Leaderboard.
The new leader and winner of the 2011 Emirates Australian Open was local boy Greg Chalmers who won his second Emirates Australian Open after winning the competition back in 1998. Chalmers shot a 3 under round of 69 to finish 13 under par for the tournament and become the 2011 Emirates Australian Open winner.
However the final day at the 2011 Emirates Australian Open was not plain sailing as he watched nervously from the clubhouse as overnight leader John Senden approached the 18th green.
Senden had a 35 yard putt for birdie which could have took the 2011 Emirates Australian Open to a playoff but that putt would narrowly miss the hole. This allowed an emotional Greg Chalmers to collect the winners cheque and lift the trophy. Overnight leader John Senden would finish the 2011 Emirates Australian Open in second after carding a final round of even par 72 not making any further advance to his overnight lead.
2011 Emirates Australian Open – Tigers strong finish
Tiger Woods would eventually finish third after a fine final round of 67 to finish the 2011 Emirates Australian Open on a high. Woods who had struggled yesterday got back to the form which saw him lead the tournament after the first two rounds. Woods who was looking for his first win in 2 years may well be disappointed but will be able to take many positives from his week in Australia.
Home favourite Adam Scott would finish the week with his best round of the 2011 Emirates Australian Open a 4 under par 68 and would finish tied for 4th overall. The best round of the day belonged to Geoff Ogilvy who carded a 7 under round of 65 and would also finish tied for 4th place.
Well that completes our review of the 2011 Emirates Australian Open and would like to Congratulate Greg Chalmers on his 2011 Australian Open win.
