2011 Dubai World Championship Day 2

2011 dubai Golf Championship

2011 Dubai World Championship – Quiros tops the Leaderboard.

After a successful first day at the 2011 Dubai World Championship Rory McIlroy’s second day would not be as good for the US Open champion at the Earth Course on the Jumeirah Golf estates in Dubai. McIlroy shot a second round 1 under par 71 after dropping 2 shots on the last 2 holes which meant he fell back of the leader.

McIlroy needs to claim top spot on the 2011 Dubai World Championship if he is to claim the top spot on the European Tour money list in the Race to Dubai standings.

Luke Donald’s position at the top of the European tour money list is now looking more secure after McIlroy’s slip at the final 2 holes. Donald on the other hand had a much better 2011 Dubai World Championship day 2 as he carded a 4 under par 68 and moved into a tie for 12th place.

Donald is searching to become the first player to top both the European Tour & PGA Tour in the same year and along as McIlroy doesn’t win the 2011 Dubai World Championship.

2011 Dubai World Championship – Quiros Leads the way

Alvaro Quiros is the man sitting on top of the 2011 Dubai World Championship after he equalled the course record to move to 12 under par for the tournament. Quiros shot a 64 and has a 4 shot lead over his nearest rival yesterdays overnight leader Peter Hanson. Hanson shot a even par round of 72 and is still on 8 under par for the tournament.

McIlroy sits 5 shots back of the current 2011 Dubai World Championship leader and will need to perform at his best if he is to win the tournament and claim the Racr to Dubai title.

Well that completes our look at the action from day 2 of the 2011 Dubai World Championship and check back tomorrow for the latest golf news.
