Conseco FieldhouseThe 2012 NBA Playoffs continue to roll on and with each game helping to decide a teams playoff destiny everything is to play for. Thursday nights action saw a Game 3 from the East & a Game 2 from the West.

Pacers take 2-1 series lead over Miami – 2012 NBA Playoffs

Heading into Game 3 of their 2012 NBA Playoff match up the series were tied at 1-1 apiece with the series heading to Indiana. The Miami Heat are the 2 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs and the highest seed remaining but on Thursday night they were manhandled by the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers took home advantage and defeated the Heat 94 – 75 which was mainly down to a massive night from Center Roy Hibbert. Hibbert scored 19 points and was a beast on the boards claiming an impressive 18 rebounds, George Hill backed up Hibbert with 20 points.

For the Heat playing without Chris Bosh they struggled with 2 of their starters failing to trouble the scores whilst Dwayne Wade only managed to score 5 points. Wade’s frustrations were clear as he and coach had a very animated conversation in the third quarter.

Game 4 takes place on Saturday in Indiana and another performance like this from the Pacers will put them in the driving seat to get to the Eastern Conference Finals.

2012 NBA Playoffs – Spurs dominate Clippers for 2-0 lead

In Game 2 from the Western Conference Playoffs between the San Antonio Spurs & the LA Clippers saw the top seed Spurs show their dominance. The Spurs took a 2-0 series lead with a 105-88 victory.

Tony Parker led the Spurs to the impressive victory with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists & 3 steals as the Spurs stamp their authority in the series. The only highlight for the Clippers was the performance of Blake Griffin with 20 points but he will need some support if the Clippers are to make this a more even series.

Game 3 moves to LA on Saturday & the Crowd at the Staples centre will be hoping for a big performance or they will face an exit from the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Ferdinand misses out – England Euro 2012 Squad

Before we look at the who’s on the plane to Euro 2012 we will look at who didn’t make it into the England Euro 2012 squad. The most notable is former England Captain Rio Ferdinand who despite having 81 caps will miss out on another European Championship. Ferdinand who has struggled with injury throughout the season perhaps weighed on Hodgson’s mind when picking the squad. Kyle Walker misses out with injury also whilst Michael Carrick misses out and will enjoy a long rest this summer.

So who did make the England Euro 2012 squad lets begin with the Goalkeepers and Man City’s Joe Hart, West Ham’s Robert Green & Norwich’s John Ruddy makes his first England squad.

Hodgson selected 7 defenders including Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, John Terry & Ashley Cole & Everton’s Leighton Baines. Liverpool’s Glen Johnson, Man City’s Joleon Lescott & Man Utd’s Phil Jones.

Midfielders Hodgson selected Gareth Barry, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain makes his first England squad after an impressive season with Arsenal.

Englands forward options will consist of Andy Carrol, Jermaine Defoe, Danny Welbeck & Wayne Rooney despite him being suspended for the first 2 group games.

Series tied between C’s & Sixers – NBA Playoffs 2012

After a tight affair in game 1 with the Celtics winning by a slender 1 point Mondays game finished with exactly the same winning margin. However on Monday it was the 76ers who walked away victorious with a 82-81 victory. Evan Turner scored the go ahead layup to give the 76ers a 76-75 lead which they never lost & Philadelphia went 6 for 6 from the free throw line to secure the victory.

Jrue Holiday top scored for the 76ers with 18 points with Andre Iguodala scoring 13 points in the victory. For the Celtics Ray Allen top scored with 17 points from off the bench with Kevin Garnett chipping in with 15 points.

After the opening 2 games of their Playoff series the series is tied at 1-1 as the tournament heads to Philadelphia for games 3 & 4.

Blowout win for OKC – NBA Playoffs 2012

Game 1 in the West between the Oklahoma City Thunder & The LA Lakers was no where near as close as the match up in the East with the Oklahoma City Thunder securing a huge win. The Thunder secured their 119-90 victory thanks to big games from their 2 stars Russell Westbrook & Kevin Durant. Westbrook scored 27 points & 9 assists whilst Durrant scored 25 & grabbed 8 rebounds.

The match up clearly showed the freshness in the Thunder who swept their opponents in the first round compared to the Lakers who had played 7 games in a bruising series with the Nuggets. If game 1 was anything to go by expect a comfortable series for the Thunder who appear to be coasting to the Western Conference finals of the NBA Playoffs 2012.

NBA Playoffs 2012 – Clippers advance with Game 7 victory

Game 7 of the Clippers & Grizzlies match up headed back to Memphis for what was a fitting finale to a very close series between the 2 teams. With the Clippers having already blew 2 opportunities to close out the series and Grizzlies back with home court advantage, the Grizzlies were favourites to win.

However the game did not play out like that as the Clippers won their 3rd playoff series in 41 years with the 82-72 victory after they pulled away in the 4th quarter thanks to Kenyon Martins 7 point 4th quarter. Chris Paul was the star of the show for a wounded LA Clippers scoring 19 points, 9 boards & 4 assists. The Clippers will now move on to face the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semi Finals of the 2012 NBA Playoffs.

Heat take the 1-0 series lead over the Pacers – 2012 NBA Playoffs 2012

The Miami Heat are now the top seed in the East after the Chicago Bulls early exit at the hands of Philadelphia and they kicked off their Semi Final series against Indiana on Sunday. Both the Pacers & Heat had made light work of their 1st round opponents and both teams appeared fresh going into the game.

The Heat however suffered a blow as 1 part of the Big Three Chris Bosh would leave the game late in the 1st half with an abdominal injury, but this didn’t faze the Championship hungry Heat.

Lebron James scored 32 with 15 rebounds as Wade scored 29 to lift the Heat past the Pacers for the 95-86 win & the 1-0 series lead. The Heat will be hoping for another sweep as they aim for the Eastern Conference Finals and beyond in the NBA Playoffs 2012.
